ETS President Kurt Landgraf is being honored for his accomplishments in the field of education and for his impact in serving diverse segments of New Jersey. The award will be presented by the Five Sector Alliance at its annual banquet on Nov. 2, 2006, in Livingston, N.J.

The Five Sector Alliance was created by Christ Church in Montclair, N.J., with the purpose of galvanizing the expertise of select leaders from each of the sectors to make a lasting impact on society. The five sectors include the Government and Political Sector, the Family Sector, the Religious Sector, the Business and Economic Sector, and the Education Sector. The award is presented in collaboration with Christ Church, Impact Community Development Corp., and the New Jersey State Legislators of District 34.

Landgraf is being recognized in the Education Sector for his leadership as president and CEO of ETS and as past chairman and CEO of DuPont Pharmaceuticals. He is also being recognized for his service on various philanthropic, charitable and for-profit organizations. In particular, his role as president of GEM, the National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Sciences, Inc., is being highlighted.

"It acknowledges my long-held belief that as responsible citizens, everyone has an obligation to be involved in activities that benefit the communities in which they live and work. For me, education is a major theme because there is no job more important than ensuring a high-quality educational system that helps teachers teach and students learn."

"We applaud Kurt's role as chairman of the board of the Delaware Public Policy Institute and as chairman of the board of the Delaware CarePlan," says Randy Rutherford, Executive Director of the Five Sector Alliance. "Further, ETS's donation of $100,000 to Katrina victims — $75,000 to the American Red Cross and $25,000 to Xavier University — is most commendable."

Other honorees in the Education Sector are Susan Cole, President of Montclair State University, and Priscilla Nelson, Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
