ETS Global met with various organisations in Egypt last month to discuss the country’s current education systems and the use of the TOEIC® test in preparing students for the workforce.
During the meetings, Zoubir Yazid, Managing Director of ETS Global BV, and Theodore Kattouf, President and CEO of America-Mideast Educational and Training Services, Inc. (AMIDEAST), announced that AMIDEAST had been named the exclusive Country Master Distributor (CMD) for the TOEIC family of tests and the TOEFL® ITP (TOEFL Institutional Testing Program) in Egypt.
"ETS Global is excited to broaden our relationship with AMIDEAST to offer a variety of products and services to Egypt’s leading organisations and educational institutions,” explained Yazid. “With a network of offices in the Middle East, AMIDEAST is in a unique position to provide ETS language solutions to people who can benefit from them, and we look forward to supporting their efforts in this region.”
Over the course of three days, ETS Global and AMIDEAST representatives invited attendees to presentations and panel discussions about the current Egyptian education system and how well schools and universities prepare students for future academic and professional growth. Officials from EgyptAir, the Egyptian ministries of Tourism and Justice, Cairo University, the Egyptian Banking Institute, the Industrial Training Center and Vodafone discussed the types of skills relevant for the modern workplace, obstacles students face, and potential practices and directions for improving the current situation for graduates.
“We built strong relationships with people who are very interested in preparing Egypt’s graduates for the workforce,” says Pascal Mevellec, Channel Director of ETS Global BV. “Companies understand the significance of English-language learning in today’s global economy, and they recognise that ETS offers valuable resources to help them reach their goals.”
Russell Gill, CEO of Westmill, International, presented a case study about how the company uses the TOEIC test before and after their training to measure each learner’s progress. Westmill is a high-level language school based in Paris, delivering personalised language training to companies throughout Europe, and is a key client for ETS Global.
