France says bonjour to the TOEFL® test in record numbers for 2009 - 31/05/2010

ETS reported that the number of French students taking the TOEFL iBT™ (Internet-based Test) in 2009 surpassed the previous year by more than 25 percent, representing the largest number of French TOEFL test takers for a one-year period in the history of the test.

To date, more than 24 million students globally have taken the TOEFL test to demonstrate their English proficiency to study abroad in more than 130 countries including the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, Germany and the Netherlands. The TOEFL test is the most widely accepted English-language assessment worldwide, including acceptance at the top 100 U.S. institutions referenced in U.S. News & World Report's America's Best Colleges 2010.

"In 2009, we saw significant growth in the number of French students taking the TOEFL test," commented Alain Daumas, French Country Manager of ETS Global BV. "English is the international language of choice and an important tool for French students to succeed in the global marketplace. Currently, there are 56 testing sites in France to accommodate students' schedules. In addition, online score reports are now available for French students within two weeks, making the testing process more efficient and user-friendly.
